What happens in a mens facial?

Skin analysis before your mens facial begins

Before we get going with a mens facial the therapist will assess your skin using a skin mapping technique. Under a magnifying lamp we analyse the appearance of your skin looking carefully at your skin type, and specific conditions:

  • dehydrated skin
  • breakout activity
  • comodones (black heads)
  • dilated capillaries
  • miia (white heads under the skin)
  • skin pigmentation
  • fine lines
  • deep lines
  • sensitivity/redness

Different areas of your face may have different presenting conditions, and your therapist will customise the treatment for your particular presenting conditions taking account of your skin type.

Step 1 – Cleanse

Your skin is thoroughly cleansed using a specific cleanser for your skin type and skin conditions.

Step 2 – Exfoliate

The therapist uses products to take off the top layers of your skin, thereby exposing the newer brighter skin cells underneath. This instantly makes your skin appear brighter and more youthful.

Step 3 – Steam

We then steam your face and open up your pores. This is in preparation for your skin to absorb the hard-working nutrients that the therapist will apply through a masque and serums to treat the skin conditions that are mentioned above.

Step 4 – Extractions

We then remove black heads, white heads, breakouts, and clear blockages pore by pore.

Step 5 – Facial massage or pressure point massage

Depending on your presenting skin conditions the therapist will apply specific serum to treat presenting conditions, nourish and rejuvenate the appearance of your skin. The serum is applied using either pressure point massage or facial massage.

Step 6 – Apply Mask

The mask is customised to your presenting skin condition and skin type. The masque is made of specific ingredients designed to combat the issues that your skin presents. A different mix of ingredients may be applied to different parts of your face depending on the skin conditions that need to be treated. The masque helps the ingredients in the serum applied in step 5 and the ingredients contained in the masque itself penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.

Step 7 – Tone

A toner is then applied to the skin to close the pores, and balance the texture and appearance of your skin.

Step 8 – Moisturise

Moisturiser protects your skin from sun damage and environmental damage. The moisturiser used will be specific to your skin condition and type.
